ServiQual is Hosting its First-Ever Blood Donation: A Small Act, A Big Impact

We believe that our impact goes beyond usual business etiquette. As a responsible company in Mauritius, we care about making a positive difference for the greater good. Therefore, we are organizing our first-ever blood donation event with TNS Consumer, part of Aptis Group, who have joined us to make this event memorable.

The event will be held on Monday, August 26th from 09:00 AM to 03:00 PM at Aptis House, Inova Business Park, Riche Terre.

Donating blood is a vital act of generosity that saves lives. Every donation can help up to three patients, including those undergoing surgeries, cancer treatments, and managing chronic illnesses.

In Mauritius, the need for blood is constant, with hospitals requiring regular supplies to ensure they can treat patients in emergencies and routine medical situations. By giving blood, donors contribute to a critical resource that medical facilities depend on daily.

This simple yet profound act demonstrates compassion and solidarity, reinforcing the importance of collective effort in fostering a healthier, more resilient society.

The distribution of different blood groups in Mauritius is as follows:

Blood group A: 27%
Blood group B: 26%
Blood group O: 40%
Blood group AB: 7%

The duration of a blood donation:

The donation itself lasts 10 to 15 minutes.

Replacement of donated blood:

White blood cells and plasma are replenished within 24 hours. Red blood cells regenerate in about 3 weeks.

Conservation of blood:

Whole blood collected in an anticoagulant can only be stored for 35 days at 4 degrees Celsius, hence the need for regular donors to visit blood donation centers frequently.

Furthermore, only a small percentage of eligible donors in Mauritius give blood regularly, highlighting the ongoing need for new and repeat donors to ensure a stable blood supply.
